New full-time students on campus need to:

  1. register online, and
  2. complete in-person (on-campus) registration at the start of your course

If you have previously studied here but are starting a new course, you must still complete in-person registration.

You do not need to complete in-person registration if you are one of the following, either: returning student, part-time student or distance learner

Once you have completed your online and in-person registration you should receive an email to your university account to confirm your registration is completed within 24 hours (excluding weekends).

You must complete your registration within 3 weeks of your course start date (or 1 week if you are studying a pre-sessional English course). Please check our late arrivals webpage for more detail and advice on arriving after the start date of your course.

How to complete your in-person registration

How you complete in-person registration depends on your citizenship (not your fee status).

If you are not a British or Irish passport holder, you may be required to provide further documents at registration for right to study checks.

This means that students who have been granted home fee status may still be asked to show relevant immigration documentation.

Please identify your situation below, expand the text and follow the steps which are relevant to you.

If your citizenship on your student record is wrong, for example, you have a British passport but it was not provided to the university at the point of application, please send a copy via email to immigration-support@nottingham.ac.uk for your record to be updated and for us to assist with completing your in-person registration.

If you are a British or Irish student

  • When you arrive on campus you need to log in to our campus Wi-Fi (eduroam) using your university email and password, e.g. pygas1@nottingham.ac.uk format for undergraduate and postgraduate taught students or john.smith@nottingham.ac.uk format for postgraduate research students). This will complete your in-person registration.
  • You must log in within 3 weeks of your course start date, for your in-person registration to be confirmed.
  • British/Irish students are not required to book an appointment to complete in-person registration.
  • Once you have completed your online and in-person registration you should receive an email to your university account to confirm your registration is complete within 24 hours (excluding weekends).

If you are a student with the EU settlement scheme (EUSS)

If you have confirmed your EU settlement status with us already at applicant stage (and provided a copy of your passport and immigration share code), please follow the instructions for British and Irish students.

If you have not previously let the university know about this at applicant stage, you will need to:

Complete the online form below to provide us with confirmation of your EU settlement scheme position and also provide a copy of your passport.

For all other students (non-British/non-Irish)

Step 1: Send digital evidence of your eVisa

You will need to ensure you have set up your UKVI account and linked it to your eVisa, so that you can send us digital evidence of your eVisa by completing our Digital Visa Status form.

We will also ask for evidence of your date of entry to the UK such as a boarding pass or eticket and your visa decision email (if you have not received an entry clearance vignette sticker). You will also be asked to generate a share code so that you can view and prove your immigration status to the university.

Step 2: Complete in-person registration

In-person registration can be completed at any Student Service Centre, within opening times. No appointment is required.

Before presenting at the Student Service Centre, please make sure you have completed Step 1. Please also bring your original passport with you (copies cannot be accepted).

You must complete your registration within 3 weeks of your course start date (or 1 week if you are studying a pre-sessional English course). Please check our late arrivals webpage for more detail and advice on arriving after the start date of your course.

Once you have completed both steps of your in-person registration and you have completed online registration you should receive an email to your university email account to confirm your registration is complete.

If you are starting your studies off campus
